(1903 - 1983)
Samuil Grigorievich
Nevelshtein was born March 22, 1903 in the
city Kherson, Ukraine.
In 1931 Samuil Nevelshtein graduated from the
Institute of Proletarian Fine Arts (since 1944 known as the Repin Institute
of Arts).
Since 1928 Samuil
Nevelshtein has participated in Art Exhibitions.
He painted portraits, genre paintings, landscapes,
still lifes, worked as painter and graphic artists.
Most famous for his portraits of children and
youth.
His personal exhibitions were in Leningrad in 1944, 1956, 1964, 1968,
and in 1985.
Samuil Nevelshtein was a
member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1935.
In 1936-1940 years Samuil Nevelshtein was a head of the Leningrad Secondary Art School.
Samuil Grigorievich Nevelshtein died in Leningrad in
1983.

Nikolaev Yaroslav Sergeevich
(1899 - 1978)
Yaroslav Sergeevich Nikolaev was born April 30, 1899
in Shavli, Kovno Region.
In 1928 Yaroslav Nikolaev graduated from the
East-Siberian Art School in Irkutsk, where he studied
of Ivan Kopilov.
Since 1927 Yaroslav
Nikolaev has participated in Art Exhibitions.
He painted portraits, historical and genre paintings,
landscapes, still lifes.
His personal exhibitions were in Leningrad (1959, 1986)
and Saint Petersburg (1999).
Yaroslav Nikolaev was a
member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1932.
In 1948-1951 he was a Chairman of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists.
Yaroslav Nikolaev was awarded the honorary titles of the Honored Art Worker of
the Russian Federation (1956), and the People's
Artist of the Russian Federation (1975).
Yaroslav Sergeevich Nikolaev died in Leningrad in 1978.
