In 1952 Vladimir Chekalov graduated from Ilya Repin Institute in Boris Ioganson workshop.
Pupil of Alexander Zaytsev, Boris Fogel, Genrikh Pavlovsky, Lija Ostrova, Semion Abugov, Mikhail Platunov, Josef Serebriany.
Since 1952 he has participated in Art Exhibitions.
Member of LCRAU since 1953.
Worked as a battle - pieces, painted a portraits, landscapes.
